Lemondrop, the moniker of Joni Lemons, released the five-song EP The Internet last year, and now she’s releasing an expanded eight-song version on April 26 via Take This To Heart Records (pre-order). Joni says, “The Internet is a compilation of some of my most vulnerable thoughts– maybe I’m unlovable, maybe I’m living in hell, one day everyone is going to get tired of tolerating my mental illness and leave me behind, why is everyone else so much more capable at being human?”
The EP largely finds her making punchy, anxious pop rock that her new label describes as “Olivia Rodrigo meets girl in red.” That should give you a good idea of what to expect from these songs that sound radio-friendly and indie-friendly all at once. Along with the announcement of the deluxe edition comes new track “Full of You,” which is a little more stripped back, with just Joni singing over some lightly distorted guitar. Check out that song and the original five-song EP below.
Lemondrop is also going on a tour opening for Young Rising Sons and 44 Blonde, which concludes in NYC on May 18 at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls. All dates are listed below.
