So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

PEARL JAM – “RUNNING”

If you like those rare moments when Pearl Jam get kinda pop-punky, you might wanna check out “Running,” the latest taste of their upcoming album Dark Matter.

AARON WEST AND THE ROARING TWENTIES – “WHIPLASH”

The Wonder Years’ Dan Campbell gave us another early taste of his new album as Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties, In Lieu of Flowers, the melancholy, country-soaked “Whiplash.”

PESO PLUMA – “LA PEOPLE II” (ft. TITO DOUBLE P & JOEL DE LA P”

Peso Pluma is gearing up to release a new album called Éxodo this year, and today he’s shared “La People II,” a sequel to “La People” from last year’s Génesis.

OLIVIA RODRIGO – “SO AMERICAN,” “OBSESSED,” “GIRL I’VE ALWAYS BEEN,” “SCARED OF MY GUITAR” & “STRANGER”

The deluxe edition of Olivia Rodrigo’s fantastic 2023 album GUTS is out today, featuring four songs that appeared as secret songs on different vinyl versions of the album — the St. Vincent co-written “Obsessed,” “Girl I’ve Always Been,” “Scared Of My Guitar,” and “Stranger” — and the previously unheard “So American.”

THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM – “OCEAN EYES” (BILLIE EILISH COVER)

The Gaslight Anthem have put their heartland punk spin on one of Billie Eilish’s most iconic songs.

CHARLI XCX – “VON DUTCH” (REMIX FT. ADDISON RAE & A.G COOK)

Charli XCX unveiled a new remix of her recent single “Von Dutch” where she sings with Addison Rae.

TAKE OFFENSE – “ASSASSINATION”

Chula Vista crossover thrashers Take Offense have shared a shouty riff-feast from their upcoming LP T.O.tality. “‘Assassination’ embodies our mission to be truthful and give everything that you have,” says vocalist Anthony Herrera. “The assassin in the video represents anyone and anything trying to stop us — it ain’t happening.”

SHAKIRA – “PUNTERÍA” (ft. CARDI B)

Shakira just released her new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, and its opening track is a bouncy electronic pop collab with Cardi B, who raps and sings in both English and Spanish on it. That song also comes with a video.

FALLFIFTYFEET – “HOLE”

West Virginia metalcore band fallfiftyfeet have dropped this shapeshifting song that goes from chaotic/heavy to melodic at the drop of a hat.

KAITLIN BUTTS – “HUNT YOU DOWN”

Kaitlin Butts shares a sweet but sinister trad-country song, and she stars alongside her husband and Flatland Cavalry frontperson Cleto Cordero in the video.

KÓLGA – “SPACE BEACH MASSACRE” & “RIPTIDE”

Kólga formed in 2018 with members of Dead To A Dying World, Spazm 151, Akkolyte, Cleric, Tyrannosorceress, Damage Case, Sabbath Assembly, Wrekmeister Harmonies, Unconscious Collective, “and other innumerable projects of varying clandestine popularities,” and now they’re set to release theri Billy Anderson-produced LP Black Tides next week (3/29). They call themselves “blackened surf rock,” and these two singles really do find the exact middle ground between surf rock and black metal. Pretty cool!

WYATT FLORES – “WISH I COULD STAY”

Country singer Wyatt Flores is releasing Half Life on April 19 via Island Records, and new single “Wish I Could Stay” is a lovely ballad.

BIG SEAN – “PRECISION”

Big Sean is as animated as ever on his big, booming new single “Precision.”

ANITTA – “DOUBLE TEAM” (ft. BRRAY & BAD GYAL)

Anitta will release new album Funk Generation on April 26 via Republic/Universal Music Latin, and new single “Double Team” is an ominous Latin pop collab with Brray and Bad Gyal.

CORPUS OFFAL (CEREBRAL ROT) – “RIPENED PSYCHOSIS” & “GORGING GASTRIC DECENDENT”

Cerebral Rot are no more, but lead guitarist / vocalist Ian Schwab, and guitarist Clyle Lindstrom now have a new band, Corpus Offal, with a lineup rounded out by drummer Jesse Shreibman (Bell Witch, Autophagy) and bassist Jason Sachs (ex-Demoncy). Their debut LP is being recorded straight to tape by Billy Anderson and due in 2025 via 20 Buck Spin, but first they’ve shared this demo. With two songs in 13 minutes, they trek through swampy death metal and death-doom.

GREYHAVEN – “THE WELCOME PARTY”

Greyhaven have announced a new EP, Stereo Grief, due 4/12 via Solid State Records, and you can read about lead single “The Welcome Party” here.

MATAMOSKA – “SKA SHOW”

East LA ska-punks Matamoska have announced a new self-titled album, due 5/17 via Bad Time Records, and you can read about lead single “Ska Show” here.

GIRL IN RED – “YOU NEED ME NOW?” (FT. SABRINA CARPENTER)

The latest single from girl in red’s new album I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! is a slick pop track featuring Sabrina Carpenter.

MODEST MOUSE – “OCEAN BREATHES SALTY” (POOLSIDE REMIX)

Good News for People Who Love Bad News is getting an expanded 20th anniversary reissue, including this new Poolside remix of “Ocean Breathes Salty.” Read more here.
