Long-running Baltimore duo Ed Schrader’s Music Beat have announced a new album, Orchestra Hits, which will be out September 20 via Upset the Rhythm. Schrader and Devlin Rice made this one with Dylan Going who served as co-writer and coproducer on these nine songs. “We’re terrified of turning into AC/DC. We never want to be married to one scene or time or sound,” says Schrader. “We want to be the Boba Fett of bands—constantly altering the way in which we make records has been pretty key in that process.”
The first single from the album is the synthy “Daylight Commander” which takes ESMB into early-’80s New Romantic territory with Ed’s voice giving just the right amount of melodrama. You can watch the video below.
Ed Schrader’s Music Beat are currently on tour with Baltimore pals Future Islands and play NYC’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, June 20. All dates are listed below.
