The Who‘s Roger Daltrey is on his solo tour, which stopped in Port Chester, NY for a show at The Capitol Theatre on Tuesday night (6/18). He wasn’t too keen on elaborating on the likely setlist ahead of the run (and probably won’t like that we published this show’s setlist here), but said he’d probably play The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” minus the scream. He did just that on Tuesday night, along with lots of other The Who classics, some of which he sang only a line or two of before moving on. “Baba O’Riley” was a standout, and he also did “Who Are You,” “So Sad About Us,” The Kids Are Alright,” “Squeeze Box,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” and more. Pete Townshend’s brother Simon Townshend is in Daltrey’s backing band playing guitar, and he took lead vocals on a great rendition of “Going Mobile.”
The set also included covers of Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door,” Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Born on the Bayou” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” Paul Simon’s “The Boy in the Bubble,” and more, and Daltrey was self-deprecating and funny speaking with the audience between songs (including when he started yelling at a chair he almost fell off of). As for “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” he let the audience handle the screaming bit. See Tuesday night’s setlist and attendee-taken video below.
KT Tunstall is opening the tour, and you can see pictures from the whole night by P Squared below.
